Outfit of the Day
As I wait for the subway on my Tuesday morning commute, I am deep in mono/non-chromatic thought. This is typical of my life, as half of my closet consists of black, a quarter navy and grey, and a quarter color. The color part being burgundy and dark green.
I recently bought my very first hot pink shirt since being an adult after I showed up at a friend’s ready for a night out dressed in my usual: black pants, black peplum, black wedges, dark red lips. Somehow they convinced me to change into one of their pink shirts, which the thought of makes me quiver. I was pleasently surprised at the number of people that talked to me as I wore my pink shirt. Apparently it is more welcoming and perhaps less intimidating than wearing head to toe black? Who’d-a thought.
Nonetheless, I prefer people don’t talk to me on the subway or during either commute, so I stick with a dark, unwelcoming color palette and sunglasses. Welcome to New York City.
