These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Products I cannot live without

Between my own purchases, free samples, and the fact that my mom and I always get two of whatever we buy (one for each of us), the number of products I have in my little apartment is about equivalent to the number of SKU’s in a beauty supply store. Some I love and use up as if they were water, some sit of the depths in my bathroom sink cabinet, along with the holiday decorations and other miscellaneous bottom dwellers. I can never bring myself to toss a full bottle/tube/container of anything, so under the sink they go until one day when I try them again. This, of course, excludes the products that I can’t get enough of, in which case it usually doesn’t even have a chance to gain its own spot on the shelf.

Since you probably don’t want to know what is under my bathroom sink, nor could I begin to tell you, I would like to share with you a few of my favorite products.

The number one thing that comes to my head when I think of things I can’t live without is my Smith’s Rosebud Salve. If I have ever been addicted to anything, this would be it. I keep it on my nightstand at night and part of my morning routine is to throw it in my purse for the day. If one thing in my routine changes and throws me off, forgetting my lip balm is the worst possible outcome. It is moisturizing and shiny, but not sticky. I use it every morning and it gives my lips a finished, natural look. At about $6 from Sephora, it was the best and most affordable find I have ever discovered. Just beware: do not leave it in the heat or it will melt. Cc: my cousins July wedding two summers ago and my Louis Vuitton clutch.

I know you’ve tried new shampoos and conditioners that promise all kinds of wonderful things to happen to your dry, damaged hair. I am now promising you that if you try Moroccan Oil products, even more amazing things will happen, trust me. I tried this while visiting my cousin Tara in Tahoe, CA (a different cousin), and I immediately knew my life would never be the same. I broke away from my old s&c, which will remain nameless, and found a new life for my hair. I use the extra volume shampoo and conditioner ($24 and $25 respectively), and the intense hydrating hair mask ($36). Yes, they are expensive compared to drugstore brands, but hello people!! This is your hair we’re talking about!! You deal with it every day and always complain about how dead it is! Take a week off from buying lunch and buy a few bottles of this miracle-in-a-bottle instead! Or think about how much you pay for a hydrating mask at a salon. Easy peasy kids, you won’t regret it.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I paint my nails about every two or three days. Naturally, I love all my Essie nail polishes, but I don’t even think about painting my nails if I don’t have my Seche Vite base coat and top coat. I used to only use the top coat, then one time when I was replenishing my stash, there was a buy one get one free deal on them, so I decided to try the base coat. Let’s just say there’s a reason the duo are on my list. My nails realistically will hold up for at least 4 days without chipping, but my crazy self needs to repaint at the first little sign of un-put-togetherness. Go buy some, it’s cheap and it works great.

I didn’t want to do any make-up on this post, but as I think about what I can’t live without, my MAC concealer won’t get out of my brain. I first bought it about 8 months ago from a MAC store. I went in with a little extra cash and told them to give me something wonderful, and they didn’t disappoint. I use the Pro Longwear concealer in NW20. It comes in a little tube with a pump top and is only $18. A steal compared to other brands. I apply it with a sponge after my foundation where I may need it. It makes my face look flawless, like it isn’t already, and lasts all day long like a champ.
