Is This Real Life?

Taking Time to Smell the Roses

Through all the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s easy to get caught up in the crowds, being late, the constant smell of cigarettes and trash. You kind of forget how amazing life really is.

Last night, I was on my way to meet a friend for drinks. I was walking towards the Herald Square area, which I usually avoid at all costs, just like Times Square, and I happened to look up from my phone for a moment. There it was. Like an elephant in the room. That little building some call the Empire State Building. It is the most iconic building in all of New York City and people travel from all around the world just to see it. Yet, we walk by it every day and think nothing of it.

This is just a little reminder to stop and take a moment as often as you can to smell the roses. Life is too short to walk around with your face in your phone or being angry or unhappy. Look around, enjoy the sunshine, smile at people, and laugh a lot.

Don’t take any day for granted because you never know when it will be your last.
