This Week on Views From The City!

As you know, I write a fab advice column for Darling, Be Daring.

This week, I answered questions about the best things to do in the city during the summer, thrift shopping, some tips for a first date, and how to walk in heels.

Check out a preview below and be sure to catch all the Q&A’s HERE!

q: wHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR A FIRST DATE OUTFIT AND ANY HELPFUL TIPS FOR THAT SPECIAL DATE?
Answer: For a first date outfit, I always go with something pretty casual that could be dressy. Does that make sense? Like a black dress with a cute necklace. That way if you’re not sure where you’re going, you’re dressed for anything! And my advice for making it great: be yourself. I’ve had many first dates and I find myself acting how I feel like he would want me to act. Those don’t usually turn out well. How will he know how amazing you are if you aren’t letting him see it!

Q: SOME OF US GIRLS HAVE YET TO PROPERLY MASTER WALKING IN HEELS. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO PERFECT THE ART OF WALKING IN THEM?

Answer: Practice, practice, practice! Some of us were born wearing heels, and some very clearly were not. Whenever I buy a new pair, I always wear them around my apartment to break them in a little. The best way to break them in so they’re more comfortable is to wear them around the house with the thickest pair of socks possible. That will stretch them out a little and hopefully help to avoid any yucky blisters. When it comes to walking in them, flat surfaces are easiest, like the office or inside any building! And remember to keep your shoulders back and walk from your hips, not your whole body. The best way to walk in heels is with confidence, and my last tip: higher isn’t always better. My first pair of Louboutin’s have a 4.5 inch heel and although they are beautiful, they’re very hard to walk in so I don’t wear them much. Classics are best and you’ll be able to wear them forever!
