In the Mood for Miami

When I was about 14 while on a family vacation to Florida, we drove our rental car down Ocean Ave in South Beach, and literally just did that. We didn’t get out of the car, and I was only able to peer longingly out the window (from the back seat) at the palm trees and fancy sidewalk restaurants. So when I told people about my upcoming trip to Miami and they asked if I had ever been, I said no.

A few weeks ago my mom and I found ourselves comparing her New Hampshire winter to my New York winter and we decided that we need a getaway ASAP. I said Miami, and she surprisingly agreed. We promptly booked flights, hers from Boston and mine JFK, and found a perfect looking Airbnb with a gorgeous pool. As soon as we arrived, I changed into my shorts, new espadrilles, and grabbed by DIFF sunnies. I was mentally poolside since my alarm went off at 5am that morning.

To be honest, this was the only day I spent time on my hair during my trip to Miami. I sort of love what the salty ocean water does to my natural curls so I didn’t waste my time trying to style it. I also didn’t wear make up. Except the one day I decided it was a good idea to try out a new lipstick at the beach. Then I accidentally fell asleep. Guess what happened.
